Groups That Support Sunday Worship
Music Ministries
Our Lady Queen of Peace Music Ministry is open to all who want to make a joyful noise to the Lord! We have four choirs who provide music for our weekend Masses as well as special events and Holy Days.
Cherub Choir
Our youngest group of singers: Cherub Choir includes preschoolers from our Blessed Beginnings program and students in our CCD program from kindergarten through second grade. Ms. Lindsey visits their classes with the guitar and teaches them new songs, which they sing for our congregation after communion about once a month at the 8 AM Mass. They bring us joy as they remind us how to accept the kingdom of God “like a little child.”
Junior Choir
This group is open to children in grades 3-8. They sing at the 8:00 am Mass from September through May, following the CCD calendar. -They practice in the church on Mondays from 6:45-7:30 pm, and also sing at the 4:00 pm Mass on Christmas Eve, 8:00 am Palm and Easter Sunday. They join the Adult Choir for Holy Thursday, our Advent Candlelight Service, and other events throughout the year.
Senior Choir
This group is open to teens and adults from 9th grade through senior citizen. We practice on Thursdays from 7:30-9:00 pm, and sing at the 11:00 am Mass alternating Sundays with the Contemporary Ensemble. We spend time in rehearsals preparing for Masses and learning choral parts to the uplifting and prayerful music that we share. We are currently blessed with a nice balance of Sopranos, Altos, Tenors, and Basses. You do no need to read music to join this choir, just have an open heart and mind and be able to match a pitch. We begin and end each rehearsal with prayer, thanking God for our gifts and the opportunity to share them for His Glory!
Contemporary Ensemble
This group is open to teens and adults from 9th grade through senior citizen. We practice on Mondays from 7:45-9:00 pm, and sing at the 11:00 am Mass alternating Sundays with the Senior Choir. We have a small group of talented instrumentalists, including percussion, piano, guitar, bass, and violin, as well as an enthusiastic group of singers. The music we share is contemporary in style, but serves the Mass in the most appropriate way. You do not need to read music to join the group, just have an open heart and mind and be able to match a pitch. We begin and end each rehearsal with prayer, thanking God for our gifts and the opportunity to share them for His Glory!
