Deacon Joseph Rodgers, Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish in Brodheadsville, has tested positive for COVID-19. Deacon Rodgers has not been in church since last weekend. He performed a baptism on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. He also celebrated Mass on Saturday, November 14th at 4pm and at both 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. on Sunday, November 15, 2020.
Deacon Joe did not begin experiencing symptoms until Tuesday, November 17, 2020, after which time he received a COVID-19 test. Deacon Joe received his positive diagnosis just before noon on Sunday, November 22, 2020, and immediately informed the parish as a precaution.
Under normal circumstances, Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish would not disclose the identity of an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, but Deacon Joe has allowed us to use his name to fully inform and protect parishioners.
In continued alignment with Diocesan, state and federal public health and safety guidelines, social distancing and mask wearing was maintained during each Mass.
In accordance with established protocols from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, the areas visited by anyone with a confirmed case of COVID-19 will undergo additional cleaning and disinfection measures.
Anyone who attended any of the Masses celebrated by Deacon Joseph Rodgers last weekend is encouraged to keep alert for any potential symptoms of COVID-19, which may include (but are not limited to) fever, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, muscle pain, headache or a loss of taste or smell.
The staff of Our Lady Queen of Peace Parish extends prayers for healing and comfort to our beloved Deacon Joe who isexperiencing illness and for all those affected by the coronavirus pandemic.
